The Altar follows a simple 4-step strategy
to cultural impact and Kingdom advancement.
We will come together to
in an effort to see the people of God in a region both inspired and equipped to walk out the Great Commission.
One of our primary goals is to build a place at which church leaders and church members can lay down the banners that have divided us and come together around the wonderful Cross of Christ. It is vital to the vision and impact of The Altar that we be brave enough to step beyond our denominational lines, and choose to embrace those who may express their faith differently than we are used to. We believe that unity in diversity is the most compelling witness to an unbelieving world of the power and worthiness of Christ—and to bear witness to the power and worthiness of Christ is the life-call of the Redeemed.
It has been said, “The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.” Ultimately, we believe that we cannot glorify a God that we do not take the time to enjoy. And that is why worship is a central piece of the vision for The Altar. Our desire is to see the lost found, the rejected accepted, and the hurting healed, but to invite the outside world into a church devoid of worship or passion for God would be a great disservice to the world He so loves. At The Altar, we will work to create an atmosphere where passion for God is easy to find, and okay to express, and where worship is not merely a genre of music, but a way of life.
“How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10:14) Just like on the day of Pentecost, we believe that any truly spirit-lead move of God will inevitably result in the preaching of the Gospel outside the walls of the “upper room.” With this in mind, we are expectant that, during our two days together at The Altar, those in attendance will find themselves both inspired and equipped to carry the love of God and the glorious Gospel into their world more boldly and passionately than ever before.
The Great Commission compels us not simply to make believers or converts, but to “make disciples of all nations.” To that end, we are committed to ensuring that anyone who makes a first-time decision for Christ at The Altar will be quickly connected to one of the local churches in our network, so they can find a family with whom to continue their journey toward maturity in Christ. Similarly, we are prayerfully laboring to see the believers in attendance discover a new affection and admiration for the greater family of God in their region. At The Altar, we are working to foster greater cooperation and collaboration between church leaders, church communities, and denominations for the glory of God and the sustained advancement of His Kingdom. This is not just a moment, this is a movement!
